In a tale during which Joe puts his spin on Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile, the narrator is on a passenger ship traveling down the Nile with a married couple, a Sumo wrestler, two priests, an Egyptian trade minister and an Indian doctor. When the wife, who is attached to her ill-behaved schnauzer, has an affair with the Sumo wrestler, the husband, who has just learned of his own impending death, takes revenge by throwing the dog overboard. Later, on safari, Joe meets the despotic leader of a primitive tribe, who turns out to be a former Nazi.
