What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

We neither accept nor respond to random comments posted on our Contact Us page.  In order to post a comment and receive a response, you must be a subscriber which means you must first create an account which basically means you create a user name, a password [which we do not track or store], and enter an email address so we can respond to any comments you leave.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We do however subscribe to security plugins which monitor visitor contact attempts for suspicious activities by scanning IP numbers and email addresses that have been associated with such attacks. We do not store any of this data, but can access the it via the plugin interfaces.  Visitors who leave valid comments on our site should be aware that we do collect the data shown in the comments form and store it for a period of one year from its date of origin.

We do not sell or profit directly from any of the content a subscriber or a third party provider posts to our site.  Like a lot of websites dedicated to Progressive ideas and Alternative viewpoints, we are not in this for the money just the glory.
